TREATING DANDRUFF EFFECTIVELY WITH SHAMPOOS
How To Get Rid Of Dandruff Permanently |
Dandruff actually occurs when a yeast-like fungus also called as Malassezia starts to multiply and gets out of control on the scalp. This Malassezia feeds itself on the oil that is produced by the hair follicles. When this fungus goes out of control it starts to irritate by causing itching on the scalp. According to researches, the normal time period for cell turnover is over a month, but when the Malassezia multiplies and spreads, it just takes two weeks for cell turnover. Due to this cell turnover, many dead cells shed and mix with the oil secreted by hair follicles and make big visible clumps. The oil also makes them sticky and they get stuck into our hair.
So, you need to keep your hair clean almost all the time. Cleaning hair will help to remove the oil produced by hair follicles as well as the fungus and so you can control dandruff. This doesn’t mean to shampoo your hair too often too; doing so will turn your scalp skin dry causing more dandruff along with itching. Ideally, you should shampoo your hair after 48 hours.
Following the guidelines below while shampooing can help you reduce dandruff and eventually nipping it from the bud:
- Anti-Dandruff shampoos may be very helpful in reducing dandruff but may have some side effects. So, choose your shampoo wisely and carefully. Do go for a highly trusted brand, but also see if it suits your scalp or not.
- It’s always good to apply some hair oil half an hour prior to shampooing. Oil smoothes the scalp that gets dry and rough with shampoos.
- Drying hair with a towel can break the strands, so always wrap the towel around head instead rubbing the hair strands with it.
- Do not dry hair using artificial means, i.e. dryers and irons. It absorbs all the moisture of hairs leaving them dry and dead!
